Hospital indemnity insurance provides cash benefits in the event that you or a loved one are admitted into the hospital. These payments are designed to help cover out-of-pocket expenses such as transportation, meals or childcare.
Hospital indemnity benefits are not considered income and are not taxable. The plan pays you a cash benefit of:

Employees pay the full cost of this voluntary benefit via payroll deduction.
You are not required to be enrolled in a major medical plan offered by Genesys to enroll in hospital indemnity insurance through Aflac in most states. However, in the states of California and New York you will be required to have medical coverage in order to enroll in this benefit. Aflac will request the name of your medical plan after you enroll. The required medical coverage can be through Genesys or another insurer such as your spouse’s employer plan or another source.
