Time Off

Your well-being is a top priority. That’s why Genesys is excited to provide you with additional time off each year.

August Free Fridays

Genesys gives all employees every Friday off in the month of August each year. Take advantage of this time off work to recharge, focus on your well-being, or spend time with family and friends.

Year-End Time Off

Genesys wants you to have the opportunity to fully detach from work and return refreshed in the new year. All employees are asked to take PTO from Wednesday, December 25, 2024 through Wednesday, January 1, 2025 (inclusive) so that everyone can fully disconnect at the same time.

For business continuity, some employees in business-critical roles may be asked to work during the August and December breaks, to be determined by your management. Employees who will be asked to work in critical roles during the August Free Fridays will be compensated with the same number of days off to use at a different time. Please see the FAQs below and talk with your manager or HR Business Partner if you have additional questions.

FAQs

Q: Why am I being granted these extra days off?

A: We care about your health and well-being. We want you to have additional time to step away from work and focus on your well-being, your family, and your other personal priorities.

Q: What if I am notified that I am in a critical role and need to work on one of these days off?

A: For the August Free Fridays, you will be granted the same number of days to use at another time within 4 weeks. For the year-end closure, making up the time should be discussed and approved by your direct supervisor, and in accordance with local laws.

Q: What is the process to request/record this time off?

A: For August Free Fridays, you do not need to take any action.

For the year-end closure, all employees should request the time off via the method they typically use for time off. If you end up needing to work on those days, you will need to cancel the requested time off in order to use those days at another time.

Q: What if I do not want to use my PTO at the end of the year?

A: We are encouraging everyone to take this time off so that we can all fully disconnect from work without worrying about emails or internal requests. Feedback from last year’s year-end time off was overwhelmingly positive, so we have decided to make this permanent. The exact dates for each year-end closure will be determined annually. The company intends for the year-end break to occur each year between December 25 (inclusive) and January 1. Your HR Business Partner can discuss this with you if you have further questions or concerns.
