Q: Why am I being granted these extra days off?

A: We are pleased to be able to notify you now of this extra time off so that you can plan accordingly and make the most of it.
Q: What if I am notified that I am in a critical role and need to work on one of these days off?
A: For the August Free Fridays, you will be granted the same number of days to use at another time within 4 weeks. For the year-end closure, you will maintain your accrued paid time off allotted for that period and will be able to use those days another time based on your country’s paid time off rules.
Q: Am I losing some of my accrued paid time off?
A: The four August Free Fridays are being gifted to all employees each year and will not affect accrued time off. For employees based in countries that accrue PTO, this means that if you take a week off in August (Monday through Friday), only four days will be deducted from your PTO balance instead of five.
For the days off from December 24 through January 2 that are not official public holidays in your country, employees based in countries that accrue PTO will need to use PTO on those days. Your HRBP will work with you to arrange this and answer questions about your specific situation.
Q: What is the process to request/record this time off?
A: For August Free Fridays, if you typically use Oracle to request absences, you do not need to take any action. For countries that do not use Oracle, the process to record time off remains the same.
For the year-end closure, all employees should request the time off via the method they typically use for time off. If you end up needing to work on those days, you will need to cancel the requested time off in order to use those days at another time.
Q: What if I do not want to use my PTO at the end of the year?
A: We are encouraging everyone to take this time off so that we can all fully disconnect from work without worrying about emails or internal requests. Feedback from last year’s year-end time off was overwhelmingly positive, so we have decided to make this permanent. The exact dates for each year-end closure will be determined annually. The company intends for the year-end break to occur each year between December 24 (inclusive) and the first business day after January 1.
