Your 2024 Benefits Resource

Eligibility

Before you enroll, it is important to understand some of the basics, including who is eligible for benefits, when you need to enroll and what happens if you don’t.

Who Is Eligible?

To be eligible for benefits, you must work 20 hours or more per week. Your benefits are effective on your date of hire, provided you enroll within 31 days of hire.

You can also cover certain dependents under medical, dental and vision coverage. Eligible dependents include your:

  • Spouse or domestic partner;
  • Children up to age 26, including those of your domestic partner;  and
  • Children up to any age who are incapable of self-support due to a mental or physical disability. In order for this rule to apply, they must already be on a Genesys plan and be disabled when they turn 26. You may be required to provide appropriate documentation of their disability.

Your cost of coverage for medical, dental and vision insurance is based on the coverage level you select.

When Things Change

The benefits you choose during 2024 open enrollment will be effective through the end of 2024. You cannot make changes to your coverage during 2024 unless you have a qualifying life event in employment or family status. Changes that you are eligible to make mid-year include updates to your beneficiaries, HSA, and 401(k) contributions.

  • For help updating your HSA contributions, click here.

Examples of a qualifying life event, change in employment, or family status include:

  • Marriage, legal separation, divorce or termination of a domestic partnership;
  • Birth, legal adoption of a child, or placement of a child with you for legal adoption;
  • Death of your spouse, domestic partner or dependent child;
  • Change in residence (only if your current coverage isn’t available in the new location
    or if you are offered a plan that you were not previously offered);
  • Return from unpaid Leave of Absence (LOA), resulting in gain of eligibility;
  • Return from paid Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave;
  • Change in employee work schedule, resulting in gain of employee benefit coverage;
  • Termination of employment resulting in eligibility for COBRA coverage; or
  • Loss of other coverage (e.g., through spouse or domestic partner due to termination of
    employment, change in status, death of spouse or domestic partner).

If you experience a qualifying life event and wish to make changes to your benefits, you have 31 days to make any updates in Workday, and to provide supporting documentation to the Benefits team ([email protected]).

IMPORTANT: If you have a baby, please note that your newborn is not automatically enrolled in your benefits, so please be sure to update your coverage.

You cannot change your coverage during 2024 unless you have a qualified change in employment or family status.

What Happens if I Don’t Enroll?

If you do not enroll within 31 days of hire, the next opportunity to enroll in Genesys benefits or make changes will be at the next annual enrollment, unless you have a qualifying change in status (see When Things Change above).

Make sure you go to Workday and select the Benefits App to enroll in the benefits that are right for you and your family.
